Drosera regia, commonly known as the king sundew, is a carnivorous plant in the sundew genus Drosera that is endemic to a single valley in South Africa.
Drosera regia cultivation was first attempted prior to the formal description of the species in 1926. The author, Edith Layard Stephens, reported the successful cultivation of D. regia, noting that such success required "a moist and comparatively cool atmosphere", similar to that of its native environment. Drosera regia is often described as being a difficult species to cultivate, though modern reports on its cultivation have indicated which conditions have led to success for some. For optimal growth, D. regia appears to require good soil drainage and sufficient light levels, and prefers cooler temperatures. Cool nights and warm days have been reported to induce vigorous growth.
PRICE IS FOR ONE PLANT
This plant is not for beginners!
Growing most D.regia is considered difficult, experts only!
Soil and Pot : We use nearly 80% peatmoss with a 20% perlite. Regia is not considered very tolerant of wet conditions and the tray method of growing is NOT used. Don’t leave them in water
Size and packing method: You will receive a young plant about 1-2” inches tall. Because Regia have fragile roots, plants are shipped potted. Upon arrival, gently cut the bottom portion of the plastic sleeve and tape before planting in a larger container.
Please Note the plants offer for sale are often younger small plants and may not be full sized, adult blooming sized plants. The "dew" is often lost in shipping, this is not a concern and will come back on the new growth and often on the current leaves as well. No dew over long term may indicate humidity issues as well.

Plant size is small or about 1-2” tall, see last photos. The difficult “tiny” seedling phase is over. These plants need a heavy feeding of tiny insects to continue strong growth.
