Firstly- This plant is not for beginners! it is extremely hard to grow. It needs bright light and cool temperatures. Shipped in small growing cell, don’t disturb roots when up sizing pot.
Drosera magnifica is a species of sundew endemic to Pico do Padre Ângelo (1500–1530 m asl) in eastern Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil, where it grows among sandstone outcrops in herbaceous and shrubby vegetation. It is one of the three largest species of Drosera – the other two being D. regia from South Africa and D. gigantea from Australia – and was discovered in 2015 through images which appeared on the social network Facebook. It is the largest New World sundew, and it is closely related to Drosera graminifolia and Drosera spiralis. According to the IUCN Red List categories and criteria, it is considered Critically Endangered.[1] Brazil is home to some 30 species of Drosera.
It is one of the biggest species of sundew and very rare in cultivation. It likes it cool and bright. Hot weather is the enemy!
Please note This Sundew likes cooler humid conditions than most. Planting media of Peat moss and perlite works well. This Sundew is not for beginners, expert growers only, please research before purchasing.
PRICE IS FOR ONE PLANT
This plant is not for beginners!
Growing most D. magnifica is considered very difficult, experts only!
Soil and Pot : We use 60% peatmoss with a 40% perlite. magnifica is not considered very tolerant of wet conditions and the tray method of growing is NOT used. Don’t leave them in water
Size and packing method: You will receive a young plant about 2-4” inches tall. Because magnifica have fragile roots, plants are shipped potted.
Please Note the plants offered for sale are younger small plants and will not be full sized, adult blooming sized plants. The "dew" is often lost in shipping, this is not a concern and will come back on the new growth and often on the current leaves as well. No dew over long term may indicate humidity issues as well.
Please Note the sundews offer for sale are often younger smaller plants and may not be full sized, adult blooming sized plants. Plant size is medium or about 2-3” tall and may have multiple growth points already! see last photos. The difficult “tiny” seedling phase is over. These plants need a heavy feeding of tiny insects to continue strong growth.
