Light: All carnivorous plants require bright light.
Temperature: Carnivorous plants have a wide range of temperatures. Temperate plants (like flytraps and Sarracenia) go dormant in winter, These can safely experience freezing temperatures. Tropical and subtropical plants usually prefer temperatures of 15c- 27c.
Food: Bugs are fertilizer for carnivorous plants, and they don't need much. Use other Carnivorous plant fertilizers found on our Website in moderation and with caution
Water: Carnivorous plants require water that is low in minerals. Tap water under 70 PPM will work, otherwise bottles water under 70PPM with work as well. Total Dissolved Soilds (TDS) meters can be found on our Website under supplies if unsure how many PPM your tap water is. Most plants can sit in a tray for easy watering.
Soil: Never use commercial soils for carnivorous plants. These may have fertilizers or other minerals that may kill your plants. Use either a mix based on long-fiber Sphagnum moss or one based peat moss (Both Nepenthes Potting Mix and “Bog Media Mix” can be found on our website under supplies if needed). Most carnivorous plants can be repotted every 2-3 years.
After Potting always bags up your new plants, in a clear bag or terrarium so they are in close to 100% humidity while settling in. See photos in our terms and conditions page for examples. Never put a seal bag or terrarium in a sunny window as temperatures inside will quickly become to hot.
